Printing the Maps
home
Any web browser software, including Microsoft's Internet Explorer or Netscape's Navigator, will allow you to view or download the maps. Printing, however, is more complicated, since browsers are not designed to print large graphic files.

There are several options for printing the maps. The easiest option is to download the map image to your computer and use an image-processing program (such as Adobe Photoshop) to manipulate or print the maps. In addition, Microsoft Windows includes some applications that can be used for simple image editing and printing. These include "Paint" and "Imaging," usually found under Start>Programs>Accessories. There is also an abundance of shareware image editors that can be found at various Internet software archives.

Other options include the services of a private company, Map Express, who will research and obtain copies for a fee. Historic USGS maps can often be found for purchase at antiquarian bookstores.

Finally, you could download the image(s) for printing at a copy shop (or have the copy shop download and print the image for you).

Please note that while Maptech is happy to host this web site, we can not honor requests to print these maps ourselves, nor can our technical support staff assist you with this process.
